Star won't shine in Gold Cup

Ante-post favourite Star De Mohaison will not line up for Saturday's Hennessy Cognac Gold Cup at Newbury.
Owner Sir Robert Ogden and trainer Paul Nicholls have decided to miss the race, and he may also bypass the King George as they target the Cheltenham Gold Cup.

"It is a decision they have taken together," said Ogden's racing manager Barry Simpson.

"We all agree he is a very good horse and we want to give him time to develop into a possible Gold Cup horse."

Star de Mohaison won the Royal & SunAlliance Chase for novices at the 2006 Cheltenham Festival.

TSIN Duke - 9:12 - 17/2

In just seven short months this 3 year old colt has raked in over £1,500 in earnings. With a statistic like that its no suprise that Chac's Champion yard paid Stable TSIN £220 for him in September. Since joining the yard TSIN DUKE has continued to impress and comes into this level weight race in Hong Kong in good form. The chestnut coloured avenger won once and finished second twice in his last three races. A steady and reliable horse he should challenge this evening at these decent odds.

Black Wolf - 8:48 - 15/2

Another big field take to the track in Hong Kong this evening for this C division race for 3 year old colts. Money could be made on this one and I'm backing Black Wolf to continue in his rich vein of form at this level. The 3 year old colt from the mr monkey stable seems to have turned a corner after a poor start to his career. In his last three outings all be it in small fields he finished second but did register just his third career win on the 29th of October in a claimer in Dubai.
As a result of that win mr monkey bought him and already his tail seems to be up. Good each way contender.

Taking the Pith - 9:24 - 5/1

In his last race on soft Taking the pith finished 13th out of 14. To say it was a shock would be a major under statement as he handled soft well earlier in his career and other factors contrieved to rob the Ken Allan youth of a good run. Tonight in Hong Kong the 2 year old is third favourite and comes into this race on the back of a fine win last week in the USA. In 14 races he's won twice and been placed in 3. Full of ability he should go very close tonight.
