River Queen - 8:12 - 54/1
This really is a gamble but if it comes off I'll be the toast of getminted!!! River Queen, a 7 year old fillie who has been around the block more times than Elizabeth Taylor enters this race priced at a massive, gigantic, awesome 54/1! With 23 wins and 40 placed finishes in her 140 competitive runs so far she's coupled brilliance with inconsistency. A winner last time out she blitzed a field of 9 in the UK to ensure victory. That win came on yielding, the same type of going as we have this evening in Australia and if she can handle weight and fitness concerns then she could at least get up to nail a place.
Young Kancha - 8:57 - 33/1
This old colt may have been young once but not anymore. Now the 6 year old spends most of his time in Senior Allowance races but has a few big days left in him thats for sure. In 81 runs the derekw10 trained Young Kancha has recorded 11 wins and 29 placed finishes. Never quite lived up to the quality of other Ken Allan horses but Derek paid £56 to land this boy in his stable. Won last time out on good in the UK back on the 18th of May. After a nice rest he may well challenge tonight and could land a placed finish. In a strong field a win seems beyond him but he ceratinly has good each way potential.
Hundred Reasons - 9:36 - 15/2
It's hard not to get excited by this 3 year old colt's potential. With a 35% win to run ratio (9 wins in 26 races) he's on the crest of a wave and could go all to way to becoming one of Getminted's best. Had a poor day at the office last time out a week ago today finishing 10th out of 14 in Australia but hopefully for him and for the slowstables he's dealt with that and now will get back to winning ways. Loves the 5 furlong sprint distance and won when last out on fast back on the 13th of May. A sensational prospect he may notch up win number 10 tonight.
