Fallon's woes continue

A disappointed Kieren Fallon was on his way back to Ireland yesterday after being refused a licence by the Illinois Racing Board to ride at today's prestigious Arlington Million meeting.
Ballydoyle's retained jockey had travelled to America in the hope of being allowed to partner Ace in the Arlington Million and Ivan Denisovich in the Secretariat Stakes.
However, his journey was in vain as the decision had already been made while he was on his flight from Dublin.

Secrets of war - 8:12 - 17/2

There are as many rays of sunshine in this stable as there are in a solitary confinement cell! This horse 'Secrets of war' shares the Death Row yard with horses such as Lady of Rage, Grand Larceny and Bad intentions !!! Ah well, each to their own! The name may not be very uplifting but the 3 year old's form cerainly is. As he looks for three in a row in Hong Kong this evening the bookies have given him a tasty 17/2 price and I think he should be good enough to get at least a place and put a smile on his owners face!! Then again maybe the smile wont materialise!

marie celeste - 8:24 - 8/1

This 7 year old fillie has always disappointed in terms of securing wins but finally can smell the scent of that £1,000 prize winning figure! This is largely thanks to a hefty amount of placed finishes in her 5 years with us. In total Marie Celeste has been out in 135 competitive races, winning in just 16 but being placed in a massive 63 (thats a 47% place to run ratio!). A winner last time out in England on Thursday she looks good coming into this race and should get something out of it.

Golden Star - 8:48 - 44/1

Huge odds for a horse with far more potential than the short price suggests. While he's been running in fairly average fields of late he's steadily improving and won in his last race in Canada yesterday. This will be Golden Star's third race in three days so fatigue may be a factor but if the 4 year old colt from the mr gump stable can run to his full potential then he could suprise and nick a placed finish.
