Doping in racing - surely not!

One day, the Clerk of the Course spotted a trainer giving something to a horse just before the start of a race. He went over and said, "Doping?" The trainer said, "Indeed not, Sir. 'Tis just lump sugar. Look, I'll take a bit myself.....see?" The Clerk of the Course said, "Sorry, but we have to be careful. As a matter of fact, I like a bit of sugar myself." So the trainer gave him a piece. When the Clerk of the Course disappeared, the trainer gave his jockey his last minute instructions, "Don't forget the drill. Hold him in 'til the last four furlongs. Don't worry if anything passes you, it'll be me or the Clerk of the Course!"

Seriously though well done to Alphaville last night who did well to finish in second in the 8:12 race at good odds of 12/1.

Amadeus Mozart - 8:12 - 14/1

There's only one word for this boy's recent record on muddy going and thats 'fantastic'. In his last 8 races over this type of ground Amadeus Mozart has won in five and been placed in another one. Well rested from his last race on the 29th of July owners Gis Wing will be confident that their 4 year old grade one colt can do some damage today. With three wins in the last five races his odds are a suprise for this evening's race in Canada but we dont mind, the longer the better! Unless something goes badly wrong then Amadeus Mozart should finish in the places at the very least.

Carnoustie Links - 8:48 - 11/1

In the three months he's been with us on getminted racing this 3 year old colt from the dommo stables has slowly be surely settled into the racing and has managed to pull in £150 for the golf loving owner!Dommo joined us an an owner back on the 15th of September 2003 and has clocked up 533 winners in that time so he knows a good horse when he sees it. Carnoustie Link's stats read 19 runs, 5 wins and 9 placed finishes. Recent form has been consistent with the 3 year old's last win coming on the 23rd of June in Hong Kong. Has only raced twice since the end of June so Dommo will be hoping the Links isn't rusty.

Royal Assent - 8:57 - 17/2

New Kid on the block Royal Assent will have his work cut out for him in the 8:57 in Canada this evening when he lines up against many more experienced horses. However in his 7 competitive starts so far for the Mr. Monkey stable the 3 year old clack colt has shown grit, determination and attitude in large fields. The Ken Allan's stable decided to get rid of Royal Assent after just one race and sao he joined the Mr. Monkey stable on the 16th of July. This new stable has been excellent so far winning in 21 and being placed in 37 of it's 123 runs. Has handled good going well in the past and if he runs to his potential could even snatch the win here. Safer to go for an each way though.
