Not such a happy new year for duo

Top Jockeys Tony Culhane and Dean Mernagh will face corruption charges following an inquiry by the Horseracing Regulatory Authority.

The charges relate to as many as 37 races between July 2003 and April 2004.

Both riders deny any wrongdoing and have released a statement through their legal representatives.

"Tony and Dean have done nothing wrong and remain confident that they will successfully defend the charges," said legal representative Phil Williams.

The riders have been charged along with two unlicensed individuals, Gary Lyons, who is Culhane's brother-in-law, and David Watkins, Culhane's father-in-law.

Culhane and Mernagh are accused of "communicating to Lyons for material reward, gift, favour or benefit in kind information that was not publicly available or provided for in Appendix N to the Rules".

Will be war or beef?

Two of Ireland's chasing stars will do battle when War of Attrition and Beef or Salmon meet in the Lexus Chase at Leopardstown on Thursday.
Just six runners will line up for the Grade One three-mile contest.

Michael Hourigan's Beef or Salmon, a three-time winner of the race, beat Cheltenham Gold Cup hero War of Attrition at Down Royal in November.

Former classy hurdler Back In Front also runs while Robert Alner's The Listener is the sole British hope.

Boxing day bonanza!

After yesterday it'll be a blessing to get out and back some winners!

Racing today comes from Kempton Park, Wetherby, Wincanton, Huntingdon, Market Rasen, Towcester, Sedgefield and Wolverhampton.

It's Kempton's biggest day of the year when they play host to the Stan James King George VI chase.

Kauto Star will be the odds-on favourite for the King George at 2.20 and is impossible to oppose. His main danger comes from the improving Racing Demon and the dashing grey Monet's Garden.

The Christmas hurdle at 1.45 also looks one for favourite backers with Tony McCoy's mount Straw Bear looking difficult to beat.

Retirement fund ensures Christmas cheer!

Boxing/ St. Stephens day drinking fund sorted! Last night retirement fund from the tikenlikkle yard stormed to a second placed finish at the massive odds of 18/1! It was yet another wonderful result for this blogsite. Not only that but another one of last night's tips Diamond Senorita also managed to finish in the places at 14/1. Go one ya boya!

Sloppery Crown - 8:48 - 18/1

The last time I backed this 3 year old colt he didnt let me down so hopefully Sloppery Crown will repay my confidence in him with another fine run this evening in England. Yet to locate a win in his 21 competitive races so far wouldn't Christmas eve be a fantastic time for him to break his duck /turkey! Had a poor day at the office last Thursday finishing 10th in Australia but this will be a totally different situation tonight. With a handy jockey Sloppery Crown could deliver again but can he win? - we can only dream!

Mercurial Cat - 9:12 - 48/1

This 4 year old filly is making a suprise Christmas come back similar to talentless pop singers who release a terrible Christmas single! To be fair though Mercurial Cat has plenty of ability and if she can run well tonight she could suprise those scrooges (bookies!)!!. Not out since the 2nd of December the grey beegee trained girl may be a bit rusty though and will have to get a good start over a much shorter trip than shes normally used to. In 43 competitive outings the cat has won in 9 and been placed in 21 so her stats aren't half bad. With a bit of christmas luck she could just get up there to nick a placing.

Dairy Dolly - 9:55 - 10/1

In the last race before Christmas day can Dairy Dolly bring the curtain down on a succesful Christmas eve I wonder? With two wins in her last three races this 3 year old filly certainly has form on her side. In 27 competitive races the shotgun mike trained grey has won 8 times and been placed in 14 earning just over £200 since being bought on the 6th of August. Previously owned by the Dommo stable Dairy Dolly moved to her new home on the 8th of October for £38 but rumours abound that she may be up for sale soon again so watch out! A decent horse she could finish in the top three (not on top of the tree!!!) if things go well!

Retirement fund - 8:12 - 18/1

Someone is going to make big money on this race as theres a host of well priced horses going to post in Canada. Retirement fund from the tikenlikkle yard comes into this B division race on the back of three fine performances which included a win on firm going in Hong Kong last Wednesday. The 3 year old colt won 5 and was placed in 16 of his 32 races to date earning a career total of £324 since being bought on the 20th of September. An exceptionally able colt owners Tickenlikkle will be keeping their fingers crossed that their boy moves them closer to the 200 wins mark. A decent each way contender.

Diamond Senorita - 8:36 - 14/1

I'm a tad suprised that this Pablo P trained filly is 14/1 but lets not complain! In her four competitive races Diamond Senorita won once and was placed twice. To add to her credentials she won a claiming race on the 6th of December on muddy going (the same going as we'll have tonight in Dubai - I never thought it ever rained there!!!) That win saw her move from the Dallas1 yard to her current abode. A decent virtual animal she should do well if she gets a good jockey.

Colosseum - 9:55 - 22/1

Last wednesday this 4 year old Guaybanex trained colt finished 13th out of 14 in England. Was it sandbagging or did he genuinely falter to such a poor degree? I think perhaps it was the former as regular getminters will know only too well that this boy can run. In 48 runs Colosseum won on 11 attempts and has been placed in 20 bringing in total career earnings of £720. Current owners Guaybanex paid £275 to the Andy Hargie stable for this 4 year old black colt on the 24th of September and he really has the ability to do well. Should make the bookies blush tonight and earn some much needed Christmas cash.

Essex race course will not open on time

The opening of Great Leighs, Britain's first new racetrack since 1927, has been further delayed.
The Essex course was originally due to have begun staging races last October but that was put back until February.

And British Horseracing Board acting chief executive Chris Brand said on Friday the all-weather Essex course would again not be ready in time.

He added: "There is every indication that Great Leighs will not be ready to race in late March either."

Great Leighs' four fixtures between 22 February and 15 March 2007 have been returned to BHB, with details regarding their reallocation to be announced in due course.

Remembering Desert Orchid

Details have been announced of plans for a tribute to racing great Desert Orchid at Kempton Park, the scene of some of his greatest triumphs.

The bold-jumping grey, who won the King George VI Chase a record four times at the track, died last month aged 27.

Dessie's ashes have been buried near the course's statue of the horse.

A memorial headstone will be unveiled before a special race in his honour on Wednesday 27 December, the second day of the King George meeting.

In the world of virtual racing we had another success story last night when Hundred Reasons was placed at 20/1. Good tipping or what!!!

Hats off to Notre Dame

The good times contune to roll on the virtual racing blogspot! Last night our 24/1 tip Notre Dame did just enough to finish in the places in the 8:12 race. It means over the last week we've enjoyed the following successes:

Tuesday Dec 12th - Unbounded - 24/1 - winner
Tueday Dec 12th - Michi - 17/2 - third
Wednesday Dec 13th - Criminal Offence - 9/2 - winner
Saturday Dec 16th - Silver Storm - 38/1 - winner
Saturday Dec 16th - Jokers Couch - 12/1 - second
Saturday Dec 16th - Come Fruta - 11/2 - second
Sunday Dec 17th - Sloppery Crown - 11/1 - second
Tuesday Dec 19th - Notre Dame - 24/1 - third

Hundred Reasons - 8:48 - 20/1

In his 100th competitive race can Hundred Reasons do the business and deliver the goods in Dubai? His recent form has been a tad checkered but still and all he's done reasonably well for the slowstables who themselves passed the 600 yard wins total just last week. Its been almost 3 months since the 5 year old's last win so realistically a placed finish is what we're looking for from this boy tonight. In 99 runs Hundred Reasons has been a winner in 16 and placed in 42 bringing in earnings of £578. If he gets a decent rider tonight then he could add to that total.

Notre Dame - 8:12 - 24/1

While I would be the first to admit that Notre Dame is no Dawn run I'd have to follow it up by saying in a race of this quality the 3 year old filly must have a better chance than the lofty odds suggest. Despite normally racing in small fields theres no doubting her potential. In 22 runs, shes won 4 times and has been placed in 11 earning almost £200. If she gets a good jockey tonight then I expect Notre Dame to do very well indeed.

Sloppy seconds!

Well done to Sloppery crown for keeping our runs of great tips going. The 3 year old colt managed to finish in second in Canada last night at 11/1 as predicted. It was the black boy's 13th placing in 20 runs and his third second placed finish in a row. Owners Jaybone must be wondering if he'll ever pick up a win!

Simply wonderful Silver storm wins at 38/1!

If you want the best tips on virtual horse racing then this is the blogsite for you! Last night each of our tips delivered all at great odds.

The pick of the bunch was the fantastic victory by Silver Storm at 38/1 in the 9:48 race. The bookies had written off the 5 year old filly but this girl had other ideas. It was only her ninth career win but it was predicted on this site yesterday. Its yet another December winner in a month when we've had glory on almost every day!

Earlier yesterday evening our tips Joker's Couch and Come Fruta both finished second at 12/1 and 11/2 respectively.

If you followed our tips well done, if not then you should have!

For all tonight's top Getminted Racing Tips please click on read more........

Apple Candy - 8:36 - 12/1

While her ratio of wins to runs is poor its worth noting that Apple Candy's only career win came on firm. On the same going in England tonight the 3 year old filly will be hoping to pick up something for owners Bonnybrook farm. Shes been placed in seven of her last eight runs and is in hot form approaching tonight's race. Rested for the last four days this could be the stage for her to pick up what would be only her second win. Great each way chance.

Noplace Like home - 8:57 - 16/1

I wouldn't be suprised if weight played a part when the bookies were deciding the odds for this 4 year old colt for tonight's C and D open age race in the USA. With back to back wins in his last two races Noplace like home is in his best form since being bought on the 6th of July. He's banked £230 for the DJMally yard in 32 runs, winning in 5 and being placed in 6. Has a decent record on the muddy going in recent times and poor results only come when entered in races above his ability. A placing is a strong possibility.

Sloppery Crown - 9:24 - 11/1

You've got to feel for Sloppery Crown. The 3 year old colt has been placed in 12 of his 19 runs but has never experienced the euphoria of a win. Tonight in Canada Sloppery Crown will be hoping to finally break his getminted duck. He came oh so close in both of his last two races, pipeed at the post by less than half a length in both. A decent sprinter its imperative he gets a good start to get something from this Allowance race.

Big changes at Ascot

Theres good news for regular visitors to Ascot. The racecourse has announced a £10m refit programme to iron out problems stemming from its £200m redevelopment.
The move follows a review carried out after Ascot's re-opening this year which identified several areas that needed to be improved.

Among the changes will be the elevation of several areas to improve viewing, which was the main focus of criticism.

Its hoped the refit, which includes installing a temporary 2,000-seater stand, will be completed by the end of April.

For all tonight's top Getminted racing tips please click on read more .....

Joker's Couch - 8:48 - 12/1

While the total stats for this 3 year old colt are less than impressive his recent record over fast going means he should have a decent chance of getting something out of this C division race in Canada. In his last two outings on fast, he finished in 1st and 2nd both times in full fields. Overall Jokers couch has won just twice and been placed in seven of his 23 runs earning £97 for the petong stable. The owners will be hoping fitness isnt a problem tonight as this will be the grey's third run in three days. Decent each way chance.

Come Fruta - 9:36 - 11/2

With four wins and two second placed finishes from her last six runs the warrior69 trained girl is really on a rich vein of form. Verstaile, strong and very talented shes finally complementing all those excellent attributes with consistency. In 36 runs Come Fruta has won 11 times and been placed in 17 raking in £350 for the yard. In whats sure to be a top race expect to see this girl storming to the line on the home straight.

Silver Storm - 9:48 - 38/1

Despite being at long odds this 5 year old filly has a good chance of getting something from this A and B open age race if shes lucky enough to get a good jockey. Silver Storm comes into this race in Hong Kong on the back of a fine win on soft going last Tuesday in Australia. It was the 8th win of her career which has also featured 25 placed finishes from a total of 60 races. If she can hadle any ongoing weight concerns then she really could whip up a storm.

The star has fallen

Star De Mohaison will miss the rest of the season after suffering a tendon injury.
The Paul Nicholls-trained chaser won the Royal & SunAlliance Chase at the Cheltenham Festival last season.

The Gold cup hopeful followed that win up with victory at Aintree, and won a hurdle race on his seasonal return at Cheltenham before a battling triumph back over fences at Sandown.

Barry Simpson, racing manager to owner Sir Robert Ogden: "The injury is a big disappointment for Sir Robert.

"He was very much looking forward to Star De Mohaison fulfilling his potential after winning his two races this term

Congratualtions to all those who backed 9/2 shot 'Criminal Offence' last night in the 8.36 race. The 4 year old filly from the shotgun mike yard won in style picking up her very first Getminted racing win in Dubai. The first win is always the sweetest and expect to see this girl notch up more wins in the coming months. It marks yet another winning night for this blogspot in the best month we've ever had!

Ding Dong merrily on high - 24/1 win for tipster!

Wow! What a December this blogsite is having. If you are one of the many punters who have been cleaning up of late because of this site then tell your friends as we're on a roll!

Last night here in the U.K Unbounded love trained by the Black Smoke stable stormed to just her fourth career victory at the massive odds of 24/1. She stunned the bookies and delivered another wonderful result for us.

Twenty minutes later 17/2 shot Michi also got in on the act finishing in the places for the melkor6925 yard.

For all tonight's top tips please click on read more....can you afford not to?!

Criminal Offence - 8:36 - 9/2

After last Saturday's fine run on muddy in the USA I predict alot of punter's money will be going on this 4 year old filly from the shotgun mike stable. Criminal Offence finished second in that Allowance race narrowly beaten on the line by the horse 'Something Fast'. In 5 outings shes only been placed twice and is without a win but the potential is there for some much needed glory tonight and I think she's a tidy each way option.

Helioncentric - 8:48 - 42/1

With so many longshots in this Special Advance Allowance race the chances of a well priced horse coming in are very high indeed. And why not glory for Helioncentric. Just settling in to her new stable - the brenmar farms yard - the 5 year old filly will want to say thanks with a win or a placing in the UK this evening! This will be Helioncentric's first run for the new yard after moving from the shotgun mike stable three days ago. In 98 career runs the gray has won in 14 and been placed in 48 totting up a healthy £591 in winnings. Can she go over the £600 mark tonight? - well if she gets a good jockey and starts off well then she could well repay the Brenmar farm yard for the faith shown in her with a top three finish.

Sunshine stayer - 8:57 - 14/1

This promises to be one of the races of the night. In a hugely competitive field there isn't much between most of this field in terms of quality and winnings and this Sunshine stables colt will have as good a chance of getting something as any of those given shorter prices. The 3 year old has already won three times and been placed in six of his 11 races and comes into this race on the back of a fine win last Sunday in Hong Kong. If he can stay with the leaders then he should get something out of this C division race off.

Two weeks to Christmas day!

A jockey was riding the favourite at a race meeting, and was well ahead of the field. His horse rounded the final corner, when suddenly the jockey was hit on the head by a turkey and a string of sausages.

He managed to keep control of his mount and pulled back into the lead, only to be struck by a box of Christmas crackers and a dozen mince pies as he went over the last fence.

With great skill he managed to steer the horse to the front of the field once more when, on the run in, he was struck on the head by a bottle of sherry and a Christmas pudding.

Thus distracted, he succeeded in coming only second. He immediately went to the race stewards to complain that he had been seriously hampered.

All of the dudes party in Dubai!

Good result last night for our tip 'All of the dudes' who ran in the 9.12 race. At nice odds of 17/2 the 3 year old from the Liveoak stables finished second. It means over the past five nights this site has tipped the following:

Monday: Farnley - winner at 15/2
Monday: the orb efefct - second at 13/2
Tuesday: Earl of Jarvis - second at 15/1
Tuesday: Antrim Hills - third at 10/1
Thursday: Dolores Rocket - winner at 12/1
Thursday: Neferibre - second at 13/2
Friday: All of the dudes - second at 17/2

Also I must point out that I never back favourites unlike many other tipsters!

For all tonight's top Getminted racing tips please click on read more...

Storm Kiah - 8:48 - 7/1

Three third favourites in this race all priced at 7/1 and all capable of winning! However Storm Kiah's consistency and recent form over muddy going means she could be the dark horse in this race. In 84 outings the ADM Racing trained filly has captured 9 wins and 28 placed finishes. Worryingly for the owners the 6 year old hasnt had a win since July but she is certainly good enough to claim a prize in the USA tonight - the only question is which of the top three places will she finish in? You decide!

Allez France (FR) - 8:57 - 25/1

On the 23rd of September in England Allez France defeated La Gazza Ladra, Silverbullet Jonz, Cyber shot and Royal Express to take the Queen Elizabth classic on soft going. In Hong Kong this evening the going is again soft but the bookies reckon its a two horse race beteen La Gazza and Silverbullet. However at 25/1 a third placed finish would be fine for Allez France the Dallas1 trained 7 year old colt. In a great run of form at the moment the French entrant has taken two of his last five races and comes into this race on the back of an impressive win in Dubai last Monday. If he can stay with the two big boys then he could well suprise. Good each way chance.

Short Crown - 9:36 - 17/2

Every race this 3 year old runs at present is vital. Hes on the brink of making it into the big league but is just that one step away. In 26 races his stats have been good without being great. Hes won 6 times and been placed in 12 bringing in £183 for the Crown stables Inc. Amazingly this will be Short Crown's first ever run over soft going but the fact that hes already won on firm, yielding, muddy and fast shows he's certainly versatile. If he gets a good jockey then I think a win may even be on teh cards here this evening. Time will tell.

Dolores Rockets to brilliant victory!

Not for the first time this week our tipping page has come good yet again. Last night there was cause for huge celebration when 12/1 shot Dolores Rocket won in style despite carrying the top weight in the 9:48 race in the USA. Up to that point it had already been a succesful evening's work after 13/2 shot Neferibre from the Team Johansson stable picked up a second placed finish as predicted yesterday by yours truly.

For all tonight's top Getminted Racing tips please click on read more....

Shans spotty dotty - 8:12 - 22/1

Mmm.. the name raises an eyebrow but anyhow...this 4 year old colt from the mr looney 21 stable looks like good value in this race where confidence amongst most of the field is very low. In 38 runs Shans spotty dotty has nailed 6 wins and 14 placed finishes and comes into this race on the back of a victory on firm going (same as we have this evening) in Australia three days ago. Bought from the jsm racing stable on the 5th of November this boy is a decent horse to have in your stable and if he runs well tonight then a placed finish is highly possible.

Shadowfane - 8:36 - 15/2

Over the past month Shadowfane has turned a corner and has become a model of consistency. Odd really as he was the complete opposite in his previous month's racing. In his last four races in big fields the four year old has picked up three placed finishes and one victory. A decent ratio of wins to runs (19%) and placed finishes (42%) this grey has fine ability and may well add to his £818 in winnings tonight.

All of the dudes - 9:12 - 17/2

Liveoak actually have two horses in this field at odds of 17/2, the other being 'Black of spades'. Ive decided to go for 'All of the dudes' though as his levels of consistency and placed finish returns are impressive. In 13 races the 3 year old has won just once but has been placed in 11 bringing in total earnings of £67. Refreshingly these successes havent come in fields of 3 or 4 but from big fields in the main. If All of the dudes can get a good jockey tonight then he could suprise in Dubai.

Lord of the Sales rings!

Now I want you to clear your mind of any troublesome thoughts and worries etc. Sit down, inhale and read these wise words from Gandalf 29! Perhaps he inhaled something too!!!!!!

“All that is gold does not glitter
Not all those who wander are lost
The old who are strong do not whither
Deep roots are not reached by the frost
From the ashes a fire shall be woken
A light from the shadow will spring
Renewed be the sales ring that was broken
The horses once again shall be kings”

Gandalf(the very wise old wizard)

Neferibre - 8:48 - 13/2

A result by this 4 year old colt tonight would move owners Team Johansson much closer to the £3000 in winnings mark. This boy is in a rich run of form at the minute and comes into this race on the back of a fine win on good going in the UK on the 21st of November. Rested for the last two and a half weeks it will be interesting to see if hes as sharp tonight as he was back then. Aiming to pick up his 6th career win this evening but I reckon a placing is probably more likely.

Jimbob - 9:12 - 14/1

I have to say Im suprised by these long odds for such an impressive racehorse. In his last five races this veteran has picked up two wins and three placed finishes. In 170 runs Jimbob from the G.Barr yard has accumulated £2,092 in earnings. The 7 year old has passed the winning post first on 30 trips and has been placed in 61. He'll have his work cut out for him in this race this evening up against some much younger campaigners but if he can stay with the leading group then he may use his experience to nick a placed finish.

Dolores Rocket - 9:48 - 12/1

It's hard to belive that the last win for Dolores Rocket was back on the 11th of November.Since that victory the 5 year old filly has finished in second on six runs. Shes become the Padraig Harrington of the virtual racing world! A fine campaigner shes won in 35 and been placed in 78 of her 173 races. Shes had good success on fast going in the past and if she can handle this long distance then theres no reason why she shouldn't challenge for honours. Good each way contender.

End of the road for Iris's Gift

Nine-year-old Iris's Gift broke down badly on trainer Jonjo O'Neill's gallops on Wednesday and sustained a leg injury forcing the legend into retirement.

O'Neill's horse won 14 races from 25 starts but never progressed into the chasing star his hurdling potential had promised.

Iris's Gift's owner Robert Lester said: "We are absolutely gutted. Iris's Gift gave us so much fun and it is a shattering blow.

"Now we must ensure that we find him a good home so we can visit him regularly."

Pulled up in the Cheltenham Gold Cup, the grey's two starts this season produced fifth-placed finishes in the Charlie Hall and the Betfair Chase.

He was more successful over the smaller smaller obstacles, beating Baracouda in the Stayers' Hurdle at the 2004 Cheltenham Festival

Another succesful night on the best virtual horse racing game on line

The good times continued to roll last night when 15/1 shot Earl of Jarvis finished in second as predicted as he made it two back to back wins on the American racetrack. Earlier in the 8:48 race another one of our tips - Antrim Hills - also finished in the places at good odds of 10/1. It means in two nights 4 of our 6 top tips have come good for us. This 4 year old filly has been the model of consistency in her past few races but hasn't had a competitive win since the 13th of June. Shes become something of a placed finish specialist but can't seem to find that winning breakthrough. Total stats for the goatie 2000 trained girl stand at 35 competitive runs, 3 wins and 14 placed finishes. Organic menz hasn't raced since the 23rd of last month so she should be as fresh as a daisy as she aims to add to her career winning total of £157. A fan of good going she should bring the organic bacon home from the track in the UK this evening in one way or another!

King Kiah - 9:12 - 15/2

This is King Kiah's last season with Getminted but in his time with us far he's done well. With £1,110 banked for the ADM Racing stable he's picked up 12 wins and 33 placed finishes from 93 runs and could well add to one of those totals tonight in Canada.Fast is one of the 7 year old blcak colts favoured types of going and if he can get an able jockey tonight then I fancy him as an each way contender.

Mystical - 9:24 - 10/1

Given the recent run of results this 6 year old colt has produced its difficult to avoid him at these good odds. With two wins and three placed finishes in his last five races life is grand for the grey who has earned £868 in his 14 month career though no one has ever rated him very highly. Verstaile and able he could go close in the UK tonight and suprise one or two of his critics.

Farnley and the Orb effect deliver for the tipmeister!

While other tipsters were floundering two of last night's tips from this page succeeded in keeping us well in profit. Farnley from the Menace stable in particular did well winning in the 8:12 race in Canada last night at nice odds of 15/2. That great result for us was followed up by a second placed finish as predicted from the Orb Effect in the 9:12 race from the USA at 13/2. A double bonanza for all those who followed my advice.

Gold Eclipse - 8:12 - 13/2

There are a number of races on the card tonight where horses with limited and in some cases no experience line up on the big stage. Ah well, they all have to start somewhere. When tipping on such races you're obviously taking somewhat of a risk and often it makes more sense to look at the owner rather than the horse itself. Thats why I'm backing this one in this maiden juvenile race for Colts in Canada. Gold Eclipse is a new recruit to the Dallas1 stable. In his last race the grey came last on yielding ground in Hong Kong. Rather than stick him in a claimer Dallas, the wise old head that he is, decided to try something different. Tonight on the much shorter distance of 7 furlongs and on muddy going this boy is hoping to impress the owner and I think he will with a win or a placed finish.

Antrim Hills - 8:48 - 10/1

The name immediately took my eye. There are few better places to be on a fine day than in the Antrim hills looking into the beautiful glens below. But its not just the name that entices you to back this 4 year old filly. The Grey has been in decent form for the gogogunner stable since being bought from boyle1972 on the 27th of August last. In total Antrim Hills has won in 6 of his 28 races and has also been placed in 12. He actually won on good going (same going as we have in the UK this evening) on the 28th of October on this very track so a repeat performance could see him in the money as well as you if you decide to back him at these decent odds.

Earl of Jarvis - 9:12 - 15/1

This promises to be the race of the night with a talented field going head to head in the USA. The conditions we hear from our team in America are perfect with the going being fast. Its difficult to pick a winner from this field as quality wise there isnt a huge lot between them. Im backing Earl of Jarvis on the back of his good win on the 16th of November at this very track. The only thing is though the field was small and after being entered in a few claimers in November it will be interesting to see how his confidence is. This race will be all about good starts and if he can get one tonight then he could suprise. Each way contender.

Tip top tips from tea totalling toad!

I don't know why I called myself a toad! Perhaps ladies may kiss me in the hope I turn into a Prince! Worth a try! More worryingly why did I call myself tea-totalling!

Farnley - 8:12 - 15/2

If theres one particular type of going that Farnley likes above all others then it has to be muddy. Theres mud as far as the eye can see in Canada this evening for the 8:12 Special Allowance race and this 3 year old colt will fancy his chances over the two mile distance. Its suprising that this Menace trained contender has only won once in 19 competitive attempts as his talent is undoubted. He's also picked up 7 places and £60 in earnings in his time but you get the feeling that a win soon is on the cards. At 15/2 he represents good value for money and should challenge for a top three spot with ease.

The Orb Effect - 9:12 - 13/2

Most of the colts lining up in the USA for the 9:12 race this evening have very average stats over fast going for some reason. The Orb Effect is an exception. In his 98 runs the 6 year old has won in 18 and been placed in 31. In late October he was bought by the Punting Paul stable for £41 and with two full seasons left in him the new owners will be hoping for a regualr drip of winnings. If he gets a good jockey then theres no reason why he shouldn't add to his own personal career earnings total of £908.

Steed of Speed - 9:36 - 22/1

I wasn't familiar with this owner - Kently Steeds - and I tell you what they don't look half bad. In 20 runs the stable has had 4 wins and 5 places with Steed of Speed being the leading light in the yard. The horse himself is being offered at 22/1 for tonight's Level weight race in Hong Kong and if he can pick up where he left off in his last race then theres no reason why he shouldnt get something out of this race. Yesterday in Dubai the 3 year old stormed to victory in a full field of 14 showing why the new yard think so highly of him. Place possible.

Get you calculators out!

The currency exchange rate requires an update which will be conducted today.

Therefore the new rates as of 4 December 2006 are as follows:

UK Pounds (GBP) to US$$ = £0.51 (previously 0.53)

Euros (EUR) to 1 US$$ = €0.76 (previously 0.78)

You will therefore notice a change in pricing, stable stats, nominations and related stakes winnings if operating in any currency other than US$$’s.

As the sites base currency is the US Dollar currency exchange updates will only have an affect on members operating in currencies other than the US Dollar. To give you an indication of how often these updates occur the last update was made on the 1st August 2006, prior to that the 25th May 2006, the one before that being 2 December 2005.

Unfortunately the system has to be based on one currency as most of the transactions are between members and there are multiple currencies involved. We cannot fix the exchange rates as that will eventually become very unfair for someone. So we adjust the currencies in line with market changes. We have changed the rate from $1:£0.5348 to $1:£0.51. The effect of this is that £534.80 accumulative earnings before the rate change will now reflect as £510.00 today ($1000x0.5348/0.51).

Similarly, a $10 nomination will now equate to £5.10 where it was previously £5.34 and in a 14 horse field would now have £60.69 stakes as apposed to £63.64 previously.

Note that races which were programmed prior to the update will remain at the old exchange rate in terms of nomination amounts and respective stakes payouts. They will eventually filter out of the race card as they are replaced by the new exchanges rates.

Hope you've all got that!!! I only operate in Rupeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeees!

Race horse fighting for life after car accident

A car has collided with a racehorse being ridden by a head lad during a training session.
A string of horses were on Bury Road in Newmarket, Suffolk, when the incident happened early on Friday morning.

The car hit two-year-old colt Maunik which suffered a fractured pelvis and may have to be destroyed, trainer Sir Mark Prescott said.

Rider Colin Nutter suffered concussion and severe bruising and was taken to hospital. A man has been arrested.

Sir Mark said: "The driver failed to see there was a string of horses in front of him.

"He came at the horse sideways at about 40mph causing it to somersault. There was no way Colin could stay on.

"The horse has fractured its pelvis and is currently at the vets.

"It was due to run for the first time on Wednesday. The next five days will determine whether it lives or dies."

A Suffolk Police spokeswoman said: "A man has been arrested after an incident in Newmarket in which a car collided with a racehorse and a jockey."

Kauto's got that tingly feeling!

Odds-on favourite Kauto Star secured his second win in a row in the Tingle Creek Chase in Sandown with an impressive seven-length win.
The winner of last month's Betfair Chase over three miles at Haydock dropped back in distance to claim success over two miles at 4-9.

Ruby Walsh's mount started to take control on the back straight.

He pulled clear of Voy Por Ustedes and Robert Thornton three fences from home and jumped safely for the win.
